The Urubaxi River is a 240 mile long private river that only we have access to. It's such an amazingly private trip where only you and 7 other people will be fishing all week long. The river is so remote and most fish have never seen a lure. It is home to the biggest Peacock Bass in the world and I'm so grateful to be able to be an agent for this river.
On my 1st trip to the Urubaxi I landed 7 double digit Peacock Bass. (Honestly, I would have been happy landing one over 10 pounds). I ended the week catching two 12 pounders, one 15 pounds, one 17 pounds, one 18 pounds, one 20 pounder (the photo on the left) & the biggest of my life, a 22 pound monster Peacock Bass.
Catching a 20 pound Peacock Bass is the equivalent of catching a 10 pound Largemouth to us Bass guys. The simple fact that I was able to go over there and catch two Peacock Bass over 20 pounds lets you know just how special this river really is. The water was high and was considered slow fishing but here are the numbers from the group.
December 7-14, 2019
696 Peacock Bass were caught
22 lb, 21 lb, 20 lb, 2-19 lbs, 18 lb, 3-17 lbs, 3-16 lbs, 5-15 lbs, 2-14 lbs, 3-13 lbs, 3-12 lbs, 2-11 lbs & 2 10 lbs.
I was so impressed the way the Indigenous people kept track of every single fish caught. These Peacock's are their livelihood and they bend over backwards for the safety and survival of these fish. They leave no lure behind. I seen the guy climb a tree barefoot with a machete in his hand, cut the tree down into the water just so we can retrieve my bait.
What else can I say? We ate like Kings & Queens, slept like babies on a 57 ft Yacht & fished our butts off. They wash your clothes every day. The staff on the Kalua II is some of the nicest people I'd ever met in my life. They take care of you and cater to your every need.
This trip is the best guarantee for double digit Peacock Bass at the best price in the World and I couldn't stress that enough. If you'd like more details on trip rates, contact me anytime at (786) 342-5791.
Thanks & Tight Lines,
-Capt Drew
Kalua Rio Jurubaxi (Exclusive Fishing)
This river is parallel to the Rio Marié that today is considered the most viable area to beat a record. The Jurubaxi, because it is a reserve, has lakes still unexplored and with an average of larger fish. The foirn has this data but does not pass through the implementation of the inspection posts in order to avoid conflicts of interest.
In summary, the Jurubaxi has lakes with large specimens of tucunaré açu ( Peacock Bass) with dimensions of records. The fact that we have exclusivity and only our operation can access the whole river that has an average of 300 km of extension, increase that potential.
